Search and Rescue Avalanche Dogs is a volunteer organisation. As such we rely on funding from supporting agencies and other groups.
There are a number of ways you can be a part of this fantastic organisation whose sole purpose is the training and certification of search dogs trained to find any person caught in an avalanche.
We welcome new members; both in support roles as well as those interested in becoming a search dog handler. Either way, to join as a member you will need to download and complete our application form. If you are interested in training a search dog, be aware that prospective volunteer SAR dogs and handlers require specific attributes before they start training.
It not only takes a lot of your personal time and money, but also that of the volunteer trainers and SARDA resources.
All completed applications should be emailed to the secretary and will be put forward to the committee for approval.
join as a support member
Our support members are some of the most valued people in the team. There are opportunities to assist with organising camps, volunteering as a “victim” for dogs to find and also a number of administrative roles. We put in countless hours of our personal time but it’s the amazing people that make it so much fun to be a part of!
I want to train a search dog
On a serious note, training a Search Dog is not just a fun thing to do with your pet. It is a serious commitment to the lost / missing or overdue person whose life may depend on your skills as a handler. If you think you have what it takes to train a search dog, please contact us before you get a dog – we would love to talk to you. Learn more.
